Synergy shows support to Redkite family
A Western Australian family fighting childhood cancer experienced a live Australian Football League (AFL) game on Sunday from the comfort of a corporate box for the first time, thanks to Synergy.
Synergy donated its corporate facilities at Domain Stadium to national cancer charity, Redkite as a way of giving back and supporting the Western Australian community.
The Anderson family from Denmark watched the Fremantle Dockers take on the Sydney Swans in the Redkite Cup from the box. Both the Fremantle Dockers and Sydney Swans are loyal Redkite partners.
Father of three Don Anderson, said the family are keen Fremantle Dockers fans, but because they live about 400 kilometres from Perth, they rarely get to see them play live.
His son Julian was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma at the age of 15 and had months of intensive treatment. Redkite has been there with support at the start, particularly with financial assistance and information and counselling. “We were really grateful to get some help paying bills when things were pretty desperate,” said Mr Anderson.
Synergy chief executive officer Jason Waters said he was pleased to work with Redkite to provide this unique opportunity to such a deserving WA family.

Redkite has been providing essential support to children and young people with cancer, and their families for more than 30 years, including financial help and counselling. Redkite also funds social work and music therapy positions at Princess Margaret Hospital, where Julian was treated.
Redkite spokesperson Samantha Magick said Redkite relied entirely on the generosity of the community to provide these important services to families in need.
“We're here for families throughout the whole cancer journey, from the moment of diagnosis until after treatment finishes, so support from our corporate and community partners are vital for the families we support,” Ms Magick said.
