Solar connections & upgrades

If you've decided to connect solar to your business, you'll first need to apply to us and then Western Power to get connected. Once installed, you then get to enjoy power generated from a renewable source, combined with a reduced business bill.

Connect to the grid

We'll arrange for Western Power to approve your installation before your installer gets your business connected to the grid.

A new meter or meter upgrade may be required before a small renewable energy system can be connected.

Plus, if you're a non-profit organisation or educational institution, with a small solar system between 500 watts and 5kW you could be eligible for REBS and earn 7.1350 cents per unit (kW) exported back in to the grid (exclusive of GST).

FAQ

Why do I still need to pay for electricity with solar connected?

You only need to pay for electricity when your panels aren't producing enough energy to power your premises, when the sun isn't shining brightly. The good news is, in the not too distant future, battery storage technology will enable you to store excess energy used during the day, so you can take advantage of it long after the sun goes down.

Increase your solar system

If you're keen to increase the size of your system, you'll first need to submit a change of system application form to us.

We'll then send you a reference number so you can get approval from Western Power, prior to making any changes.

Western Power needs 5-6 business days to process your request but may take up to 10 business days on some occasions.
