Electric vehicles (EVs) are the way forward to help reduce emissions and pollution for Western Australians. That’s why Synergy and Horizon Power are working with the State Government to create Australia’s longest EV charging network. Up to 98 EV charging stations will be installed across WA by early 2024.
Battery storage is fast becoming a critical part of WA’s energy landscape and Synergy’s Big Battery is the biggest under construction in the state. A key element of the WA Government’s Energy Transformation Strategy, it will help strengthen the state’s electricity system and support the uptake of more renewables within the community.
In 2022, the Federal Government announced $200 million in funding for the Community Batteries for Household Solar budget measure to deploy 400 community battery projects across Australia. With national programs such as this, the role of Synergy and Western Power is to provide support to applicants for funding from the program. The Community Batteries for Household Solar program is intended to support the lowering of electricity costs and emissions, support the storage of excess solar energy, reduce pressure on the network and allow even more households to have access to solar power.
