Applications now open for Synergy's Community Giving Fund

Community Giving Fund recipients Ocean Heroes

Charity and not-for-profit community organisations are encouraged to apply for Synergy’s Community Giving Fund.

The aim of the fund is to support organisations that make a positive impact on people and the environment in Synergy’s area of operation, from Kalbarri in the north, east to Kalgoorlie and south to Albany.

Applications are now open, with grants of up to $10,000 available.

The Community Giving Fund supports initiatives that align with Synergy’s four key themes – inclusivity and empowerment, environment for the future, committed to communities and energy leadership.

The fund was launched last year with almost $70,000 distributed to eight recipients, including the Dismantle BikeRescue Program in Mullewa/City of Greater Geraldton and Dress for Success Perth.

The grants delivered tangible outcomes, such as providing paddle boards to Ocean Heroes so that people on the autism spectrum can gain confidence through surfing.

Ocean Heroes Co-Founder Sam Moyle said the new specialised SUPS mean more children with autism get to experience the thrill of catching a wave at free events.

"The impacts of these events are far reaching, lasting long after the end of a surf session, building confidence and self-esteem with each participant, and creating an inclusive environment for families to enjoy the beach," Mr Moyle said.
