Terms and conditions

1. The “Win your electricity paid for a year” competition (the Competition) is a trade promotion lottery run by Synergy (ABN 58 673 830 106) on and subject to these terms and conditions.  To the maximum extent permitted by law, Synergy’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into in relation to any dispute or other matter arising in relation to the Competition.

2. Employees and agents of Synergy, or relatives of them, and any related bodies, are ineligible to enter the Competition.

3. To be eligible to enter the Competition, you must:

a. Be 18 years of age or over;
b. Be a named Synergy account holder who has signed up for Paperless Billing;
c. Agree to receive all bills and communications from us by email to your nominated email address (if you have not already done so) (Eligible Participant).
d. Customers who, prior to the Competition Period, have already signed up to Paperless Billing (in accordance with the Paperless terms and conditions) will automatically be deemed Eligible Participants and be included in the draw for a chance to win.
4. The Competition commences on Friday 3 March 2017 and closes at 11:59pm on Friday 12 May 2017. To be eligible entries must be received by Synergy by 11:59pm on 12 May 2017.

5. The Competition prize is your electricity bill paid for a year, up to the value of $5,000.  (GST included).

6. Synergy will draw by random selection one Eligible Participant name who will win the Prize.  The draw will take place at around 12 noon on Wednesday 17 May 2017 at Synergy, 219 St George’s Terrace, Perth, WA 6000.  The winner will be notified by mail, email or telephone. 

7. Each Competition winner consents to Synergy using his or her name, suburb and photograph for promotional purposes.  Synergy may publish this information on its website, in newsletters and on social media, including Facebook and Twitter.

8. The prize for ‘Win your electricity paid for a year’ will be processed as a credit on each bill commencing on the first bill issued after Wednesday 17 May 2017, until the Prize value has been expended or the 12 month period ends. For example, a Prize winner in the 12 months following 17 May 2017 would receive a credit of the amount of the ‘Total Due’ on each bill received up to the total of $5,000 or the 12 month period from 17 May 2017 ends (whichever comes first).

9. If the Prize is unavailable for any reason, Synergy, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to offer a substitute prize of equivalent value.   Unless otherwise stipulated, no Prize is transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash. 

10. Any additional products or services not included in the Prize, but required by a winner, will need to be arranged and paid for by that winner. 

11. Synergy accepts no responsibility and shall not be held legally liable or responsible for accident, loss, injury or damage to any individual or property whether direct or indirect, whether in contract, tort, negligence or otherwise arising out of or in connection with the Competition or the Prize, before, during or after the Competition.

12. All entries will be the property of Synergy. The information entrants provide will be used by Synergy for the purpose of and relating to conducting the Competition and otherwise in accordance with Synergy’s Privacy Policy and Collection of Information Statement (available at synergy.net.au). Without limitation, Synergy may disclose entrants’ personal information to relevant suppliers, contractors and agents for or in relation to any of those purposes and to State and Territory regulatory bodies and winners’ names may be published, as required, under the relevant legislation and as set out in these terms and conditions. Synergy’s marketing activities follow the requirements of the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

13. If for any reason beyond the reasonable control of Synergy, the Competition is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated, Synergy reserves the right, in its sole discretion to cancel, suspend, change or terminate the Competition at any time with the prior written approval of the Gaming and Wagering Commission (WA).

14. The Competition is governed exclusively by the laws of Western Australia.
